8 : Progress in sanctification of believers
1 Thess. 4:1-12.
Are we
living to please God? "We have become known rather as a people
who preach the Gospel than those who live it and adorn it".
"... how you ought to walk and to please God:" 4:1
" walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory".

1. in our private lives. v3-8
Sin has ruined the good gift God has given to us, so we need God's
help to channel our energies rightly and control them carefully.
We must know....
God's will v3a, 7. God's standard in holiness and cleanness.
God's way v3b - 6. His rule. Any sexual relationship outside of marriage
between a man and a woman is sinful. "abstain from ..."
v3 His guidelines The relationship must be governed by love; never
by lust. "in a way that is holy and honourable"v4
God's warning "the Lord is the avenger ..." v6 "he
who rejects this instruction does not reject men but God, who gives
you the Holy Spirit." v8.

personal relationships v9,10.
brotherly love "... taught by God to love one another"
bountiful love v10 "More and more"
Difficulties are opportunities to grow in love.
