What
is going to happen at the end of the world? The Day of the Lord is
coming; it is a day of judgement. see Amos 5:18-20; Is.13:6; Joel
1:15; Phil. 1:6; 2Pet. 2:9. How can we be ready for it?
1. When
to get ready? v1,2.
Nobody
knows when it will be. Mark 13:32
We need
to be ready now because the judgement day will be
- unexpected

- unavoidable
see Gen 3:16
For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice
by the man he has appointed. Acts 17:31
2. Who
is ready? v3-8.
Those
who are:
- Awake
Sons of the day. v5 1Peter 2:9
- Alert
watch and be sober v6 Mark 13:35
- Armed
v8 see also Eph 6
3. How
are we ready? v9,10.
- By
appointment v9
God
took the initiative in our Salvation.
- Through
atonement v10
Our
Salvation does not depend on how we live but on how Christ died.
Our hope is not based on feelings or anything other than God's
will and Christ's work.
4. What
do we do while we wait? v11.
- Encourage
each other Comfort
- Edify
each other
Note that we are responsible to help each other and note that
true comfort comes by the Word.
