God who Secures Psalm 46
King
Hezekiah faced trouble from Sennacherib and needed to secure Jerusalem.
He built walls, provided water and looked for weapons.
But it was the Lord who kept him safe. The
God of Jacob was his refuge.
1. He
defends us behind the Walls of His Protection
in trouble
(tight places) and we have no way out. v.1
in turmoil
and nothing seems to make sense. v2
in turbulence
when everything changes v.3
Refuge
v1. to whom we can flee in trouble. Deut.33:27
Strength
v1. with whom we can face trouble.
Defence
v.7,11. through whom we can fight trouble. Ps.59:10
To Him
we Turn; in Him we Trust; by Him we Triumph.
"We
will not fear" v2.
2. He
Delights us with the Water of His Provision
Presence
v.5 "in the midst"
Permanence
v.5 "she shall not be moved" Ps. 16:8; 91:1.
Promise
v.5 "God will help her at break of day" see Is.37:33ff.
Parallel

Despite
trouble, would you change places?
